There’s a brief behind the scenes featurette that came out along with this music video, a White Day tie-in with both an ethical jewelry store and a clothing boutique. The clips all show the boys in a few different tuxes, well-tailored with pops of their signature color.
Yes, folks, we’re doing a good old fashioned wedding themed music video!
The first clip that isn’t overlaid with the song the filming is all about shows Karamatsu, standing in front of the camera as the others are getting touched up before filming a certain scene.
“Hello, Karamatsu Loves! We’re here, day one of this music video, and I’m a little nervous.” He laughs breathlessly, fixing his lapels. “Up until now, everyone else has had a chance to lead a song with their special featured parts and et cetera, and I… haven’t. Ever. Finally, I get a chance to make all of you proud, and show the hard work I’ve put into honing my skills since before this group was a twinkle in Totoko’s eye.” He steps back, showing off his tux with a few quick poses, blue gingham vest under a white jacket. “And to do it for this holiday, with a video concept this lovely? I was overcome with emotion from the second we started rehearsing.” He leans in closer to the camera, bravado back full force. “I promise,” Karamatsu says, hand over his heart, “I will give this my all.”
A chorus of disapproving shouts erupt from behind him in the makeup chairs. Unlike when they first came into the spotlight, these brotherly jeers only make him stronger.
There are seven locations, from what the footage shows; one for each brother, and an extra all-white location for their one set of colorful jackets.
There are some “candid” shots of each brother in the location they’ve chosen as their personal favorite type of venue, each included as a detail on the limited-edition “Matsuno Engagement” postcards given out at the tie-in stores across the country.
Choromatsu seems to have gone with a museum venue, happily smiling toward the camera as he strolls down the rows of pictures, taking in the details of massive statues, looking up at the massive windows and antique light fixtures in wonder. When he’s finally allowed to relax, he sits in an empty corner, looking out at the scenery. (Someone puts up a fake plaque, pretending he’s on display. He kicks it out of the way.)
Todomatsu prefers something a bit more lavish; try a hotel ballroom. He spins out onto the floor, looking up at a camera overhead and waving. Jump cut to a distant shot, Totty directly underneath a gorgeous crystal chandelier lit up in white and champagne. He hides behind a floral table decoration, peeking out with a shy smile. Oh, yeah, this stylish setting is all his.
Osomatsu has gone the traditional route, walking among a procession toward a Shinto shrine, strolling through the building and admiring the old architecture. He stands in front of one of the Torii gates, admiring the cherry blossoms. When he’s finally shown behind the cameras, water in hand, he laughs as he watches the footage. “Damn,” he laughs, “you guys are too good at making me look dashing and responsible! I look like an actual adult in here!”
Jyuushimatsu is on the beach, walking along the shoreline with his suit pants rolled up to his knees, shoes in hand. He nudges the camera a tad, and points down the shoreline. After a few muted words and a little jogging in place, he takes off down the sandy beach, the camera doing its best to keep up. He runs back, putting a hand atop where the viewer’s head would be with a fond smile. (When the filming stops, he’s swaddled in a jacket and a blanket. “It’s still winter,” he whines, “and it’s still so cold! I hate it!!”)
Ichimatsu is sitting in a gazebo, flowers in hand gathered from the climbing vines and bushes surrounding him in this beautiful, well manicured garden. He looks surprised that you’re there, but he silently offers out the flowers, staring at the floor and scratching his cheek. He slowly peeks back, and smiles softly.
Lastly, Karamatsu stands in front of a large, stained glass window, staring up at the multicolored glass, smiling as he turns to the camera. He offers his hands, holding onto (presumably) yours, guiding you down the wall of almost rainbow patterns, abstract patterns casting colorful lights over his face and jacket.
