There’s a brief behind the scenes featurette that came out along with this music video, a White Day tie-in with both an ethical jewelry store and a clothing boutique. The clips all show the boys in a few different tuxes, well-tailored with pops of their signature color.

Yes, folks, we’re doing a good old fashioned wedding themed music video!

The first clip that isn’t overlaid with the song the filming is all about shows Karamatsu, standing in front of the camera as the others are getting touched up before filming a certain scene.

“Hello, Karamatsu Loves! We’re here, day one of this music video, and I’m a little nervous.” He laughs breathlessly, fixing his lapels. “Up until now, everyone else has had a chance to lead a song with their special featured parts and et cetera, and I… haven’t. Ever. Finally, I get a chance to make all of you proud, and show the hard work I’ve put into honing my skills since before this group was a twinkle in Totoko’s eye.” He steps back, showing off his tux with a few quick poses, blue gingham vest under a white jacket. “And to do it for this holiday, with a video concept this lovely? I was overcome with emotion from the second we started rehearsing.” He leans in closer to the camera, bravado back full force. “I promise,” Karamatsu says, hand over his heart, “I will give this my all.”

A chorus of disapproving shouts erupt from behind him in the makeup chairs. Unlike when they first came into the spotlight, these brotherly jeers only make him stronger.

There are seven locations, from what the footage shows; one for each brother, and an extra all-white location for their one set of colorful jackets.

There are some “candid” shots of each brother in the location they’ve chosen as their personal favorite type of venue, each included as a detail on the limited-edition “Matsuno Engagement” postcards given out at the tie-in stores across the country.

Choromatsu seems to have gone with a museum venue, happily smiling toward the camera as he strolls down the rows of pictures, taking in the details of massive statues, looking up at the massive windows and antique light fixtures in wonder. When he’s finally allowed to relax, he sits in an empty corner, looking out at the scenery. (Someone puts up a fake plaque, pretending he’s on display. He kicks it out of the way.)

Todomatsu prefers something a bit more lavish; try a hotel ballroom. He spins out onto the floor, looking up at a camera overhead and waving. Jump cut to a distant shot, Totty directly underneath a gorgeous crystal chandelier lit up in white and champagne. He hides behind a floral table decoration, peeking out with a shy smile. Oh, yeah, this stylish setting is all his.

Osomatsu has gone the traditional route, walking among a procession toward a Shinto shrine, strolling through the building and admiring the old architecture. He stands in front of one of the Torii gates, admiring the cherry blossoms. When he’s finally shown behind the cameras, water in hand, he laughs as he watches the footage. “Damn,” he laughs, “you guys are too good at making me look dashing and responsible! I look like an actual adult in here!”

Jyuushimatsu is on the beach, walking along the shoreline with his suit pants rolled up to his knees, shoes in hand. He nudges the camera a tad, and points down the shoreline. After a few muted words and a little jogging in place, he takes off down the sandy beach, the camera doing its best to keep up. He runs back, putting a hand atop where the viewer’s head would be with a fond smile. (When the filming stops, he’s swaddled in a jacket and a blanket. “It’s still winter,” he whines, “and it’s still so cold! I hate it!!”)

Ichimatsu is sitting in a gazebo, flowers in hand gathered from the climbing vines and bushes surrounding him in this beautiful, well manicured garden. He looks surprised that you’re there, but he silently offers out the flowers, staring at the floor and scratching his cheek. He slowly peeks back, and smiles softly.

Lastly, Karamatsu stands in front of a large, stained glass window, staring up at the multicolored glass, smiling as he turns to the camera. He offers his hands, holding onto (presumably) yours, guiding you down the wall of almost rainbow patterns, abstract patterns casting colorful lights over his face and jacket.

Valentine’s day finale, I promise.

((I’m sick and still partly out of commission but I’m determined to finish this event and get a white day post up damn it))

“All right, everyone, we’ve got one more song before we head out and, uh. Probably get Ichimachu’s leg checked out again,” Osomatsu says, kneeling down to make an unnecessary sweeping gesture towards the fabric cast around Ichi’s suit pants. “Thank you all for coming, and for supporting us for another year. We started working on our debutt about this time two years ago, and it means so much that you’ve stuck with us all this time. You guys are the best!”

As the crowd cheers, the five boys who can stand move to assume their positions, and Ichimatsu waves from his chair. “Hey, everyone? For this one, could you guys switch your penlights to white? If you’ve got a bunch, you can just switch one, we won’t stop if we see colors and all, by, um. White. White would be nice.” He gives a shaky little thumbs up, and the lights glow with a cozy light as the song bursts to life.

((The sound sample for this one is Ψ発見伝!by dempagumi.inc!))

It’s a dorky little ditty that talks about something the boys are doing their best to fake knowledge of: being in a relationship long enough for it to make it to today.

Jyuushimatsu mentions that the start of the day has him feeling nervous. He usually isn’t picky about clothes, but today is a day when everything matters twice as much. He’s got to be his best for you! Choromatsu can’t shake off this feeling of disbelief that things have gotten this far in the first place, but… you chose him for a reason, right?

Dilly-dallying is the last thing the boys want to do, but they ended up late anyway, but the run is less exhausting because you’re at the finish line. The rush isn’t all that bad, and the speed feels like Cupid’s helping them along, like they have wings of their own!

Ichimatsu is getting close, checking his watch, shielding his eyes from the sun. He’s so close, but he’s almost afraid to finally arrive. Karamatsu steels his nerves, lyts his head high, and rounds the corner. You’re just barely in sight, but that speck on the horizon makes him run even faster!

There’s red and pink and white in every window, every poster, everywhere, and each ribbon and frill is in its place. It’s beautiful, but there’s sweat and sunlight clouding their vision, and the first thing their eyes can properly focus on is you.

Todomatsu hates that you’re nervous about what you give, about how big or small or flashy or plain it may be… but rest assured that he’s never cherished anything more.

Osomatsu reassures you that everything is just Goldilocks, and he’s definitely going to step up his game! He’s got big plans already!

Thank you all for the love and care you’ve given. They swear with everything they’ve got that they’ll make all of you proud, and give back three times the happiness you’ve given them!

As the last note rings through the concert hall, the stage lights up in each of the boys’ colors, with an appropriately-colored spotlight pointed right on each of them. Their whole trip offstage, despite the crutches involved, are full of smiles and sincere thanks.

The campaign for after season 2 sounds hopeful to me, idk, unless they’d do what other production committees would do and spring (another) pachinko game on fans as the big surprise. But I just don’t see that.

I’m not saying to get hopes up (or the reverse) for a season 3, but that let’s really wait and be patient before some of you all keep telling others to give up all hope, or that the characters were ruined anyway so it needs to die.

I have read some times that the season 2 of every show are the scariest for the crew, mostly because always the popularity of the show and its percieved quality goes down. The point is how much it’s going down, more than if it did. If the show is still making money for the producers, despite not making as much as season 1, the probability of making a season 3 or more is high.

Of course, I had only read this for american productions but I’m guessing the idea also applies in some way for anime as well.

What you’ve read is correct. Season 2 never sells as well as season 1 did, that’s just an industry fact, however when looking at OsoSan’s sales numbers you need to take into account the Wild popularity of season 1. No one expected it to sell THAT much and it was in the top 5 best selling anime of the year. If I remember correctly it was in second place, only having been beaten out by Yuri on Ice which has boat loads and boat loads of fujo bucks backing it. By all accounts, OsoSan was a runaway success that no one could have predicted.

So no, by all means, season 2 has sold nowhere near as much as the first. There’s no denying it. But the numbers aren’t bad in anyway. It’s still a commercial success and if you want an example of a season 2 that flopped, check out Attack on Titan’s second phase. That shit sold abysmally but guess what? It’s still getting a season 3 – first and foremost because the next arc focuses heavily on Levi who, in theory at least, should have all the fan girls going crazy again. So the risk of funding more is worth it to the producers.

In the case of OsoSan though, you have to look at more than the sales numbers to gauge its true popularity. They’re still producing tons of merch, the games show no signs of dying out any time soon based on the continuous stream of new set events, there’s still plenty of collaborations with various products and I know the last pop up cafe had something like 500 people waiting to get in. Oh, and it also won second place in the Tokyo Awards for best anime of the year, once again getting beaten out by Yuri on Ice despite the fact that it didn’t even have an anime project in 2017. So the interest is obviously still there.

Now, I agree with @awyeahosomatsu that this event seems to be leading up to something. I wasn’t going to post about my thoughts on the matter because I don’t want to be responsible for getting everyone’s hopes up only for it to be an announcement for something inconsequential like a pachinko game. Which yes, has happened in the past. But truth be told, I’ve never seen anything like this for a season 2 that’s ending soon. They’ve put a lot of effort into setting up these events for the fans just for them to say “that’s a wrap, folks. We’re retiring the franchise.” So I definitely have high hopes for the final event to announce SOME sort of anime project, whether that be a season 3 or a movie. However, no one knows for sure what’s going to happen so I encourage everyone to maintain a level head. Don’t go full on doomsday prediction and tell people that it’s over for good but also don’t get it in your head that season 3 is a guarantee. The only people who know that right now are those on the production staff and to act otherwise is egregious at best. You’re not psychic. You’re best friends uncle isn’t the key animator. You don’t know what’s going to happen and neither do I. I’m just saying that this is a very interesting way to end season 2 and the nature of the countdown from six to one makes me suspect that it’s ramping up to SOMETHING. I just don’t know what. So take what I say worth a grain of salt and don’t get your hopes up or down. Only time will tell for sure and we have to wait so just be patient guys.

((the simple answer is that I didn’t, ahaha ;; good news, maybe less stress over that will boost my productivity here! things are a little rough irl right now, that extra stress helped me make the choice to cut a few, but! I’ll do my best! I have such sweet followers, aaa ; w ; ))

i know what u mean about the servers thing. i was once in like 7 different ones i nearly fried my brain lmao. if ur in too many u should try just narrowing down the ones you stay in maybe? thats what worked for me at least

((I have! I haven’t been active in a bunch because a lot of my time went toward just playing catch-up and I felt awful staying if I couldn’t keep up ;;; I’m under a dozen now, I think, and it feels pretty nice. ✨ I’m not spreading my material as far as I was before, but at least I’m not spread as thin! Thank you for the message, anon.))

((hey, folks! sorry about ducking out of a few servers, trying to stay caught up with all of them was a bit stressful, and I need a little bit of time to have a low pressure discord experience, yknow? ;; but! if you want to talk, i’m still here, ok? ❤💙💚💜💛💖 asks, messages, submissions, whatever froots your loops.))

Osomatsu receives a special Valentine’s card adorably designed all over with glittering red hearts. Inside it reads “Happy Valentine’s Day to the one who always makes my heart the happiest~! I can’t give you any kisses, but I hope these sweets are enough to make up for it… ! ❤️” With it came a little box filled with homemade heart-shaped chocolates, each drizzled or sprinkled with its own design. It’s fairly obvious who this is from, but she’s signed her name on the card anyways.

Oso, naturally, is delighted. “Both Nilla and Curly in one event! Aaa, niichan’s so lucky to have so many cute fans! I’m still Valentine’s Day King, right, everyone?!”

The amount of cheers back from those waving red penlights gives him all the answers he needs, even as his brothers shout their disagreements.

“I’m sorry, can’t hear you dorks over everyone loving meeeeeee.”

Happy Valentine’s Day! *offers a bag of chocolates with a rainbow ribbon on top* Sorry there is only three flavors. How is your day going?

“Thank you!” Jyuushimatsu shouts, waving a sleeve and nearly biting right into it– Choromatsu catches him just in time. Sugary foods gunk up the works, he needs to wait until all the singing is done.

“So far? Actually, so good!” Todomatsu smiles. “We’ve finally had a really, truly good Valentine’s day!” He pauses. Shit, he forgot. “Except for Ichimatsu-niisan hurting his leg, that’s a big bummer,” he says in a hurry.

Ichimatsu shrugs, fiddling with his mic. “Actually, at this point, I don’t have to worry about balancing all of this out. I can just kind of… relax for once? Honestly, today’s a little painful, but. It’s good.”
